Following a chaotic and controversial ceremony last year, Emmy Awards producers have reportedly asked “The View” co-hosts Whoopi Goldberg and Joy Behar to skip this year’s event.
According to sources, the decision was made after Goldberg and Behar made headlines for their outspoken commentary during the 2022 Emmys.
“Last year was a disaster,” said one insider. “Whoopi and Joy were all over the place, making snarky comments and causing all sorts of drama. The producers just can’t risk that kind of embarrassment again.”
Goldberg and Behar, who have been fixtures on “The View” for over a decade, are said to be furious about the decision.
“They can’t handle the truth!” Behar reportedly shouted during a recent taping of the show. “They know we’re the only ones who can keep these award shows interesting.”
Goldberg echoed Behar’s sentiment, adding, “If they think we’re going to just sit back and watch some boring ceremony, they’ve got another thing coming.”
Despite the backlash, Emmy producers remain firm in their decision. They have reportedly already reached out to other celebrities to fill the void left by Goldberg and Behar.
“We’re confident that we’ll be able to put on a great show without them,” said one producer. “We’re looking for people who can be funny without being mean, and who won’t hijack the entire event.”
While fans of “The View” may be disappointed to see their favorite co-hosts excluded from this year’s ceremony, they can take comfort in the fact that Goldberg and Behar will undoubtedly have plenty to say about it on their show.
