James Woods has responded to Whoopi Goldberg after the actor declined an invitation to appear on The View, only to hear the show’s host criticize him during a national television broadcast.
Goldberg reportedly took issue with Woods’ decision and described him as an “ignorant, uninformed coward” after he refused the invitation.
Rather than ignore the comments, Woods responded publicly on social media, questioning Goldberg’s approach and recalling the comedian’s earlier career.
“What happened to you, Whoopi? You used to be sharp and funny,” Woods said.
The actor then turned his attention to what he described as the show’s political commentary.
“Now you’re just a parrot for whatever is the newest woke talking point du jour,” Woods added.
Woods also rejected the suggestion that declining an invitation meant he was afraid to discuss politics. According to the actor, he simply has no interest in participating in a format where several people are talking over one another.
“In case you missed it, I’ve got enough political science education to have a voice,” Woods said. “I’m just not interested in sitting at a table and screaming over five people.”
The comments quickly added another layer to the dispute.
Woods and Goldberg have both spent decades in the entertainment industry, but they have developed very different public approaches to political and cultural issues. Goldberg has regularly discussed current events and politics on The View, while Woods has frequently expressed his own views through interviews and social media.
The original invitation could have resulted in a conventional television conversation, but Woods’ decision not to participate instead became the subject of the discussion itself.
Goldberg’s criticism then prompted Woods to explain his reasoning directly to his followers.

“What happened to you, Whoopi?” Woods asked, suggesting that he remembers a period when he viewed her comedy and commentary differently.

The lack of a response has left the latest exchange resting with Woods’ comments for now, although the disagreement has already generated renewed attention online.
