Jelly Roll has reportedly closed his famous Good Night Nashville bar as the controversy surrounding his recent remarks continues to create backlash among country music fans.
The Nashville establishment had already been struggling before the controversy, according to branch manager Alex Bruno. However, business allegedly dropped even further after Jelly Roll’s recent political comments, with the restaurant eventually reaching a point where there were barely enough customers to remain open.
“At the start of 2026, we were popular and used to be packed for whole months,” Bruno said. “There were times when it was difficult to find an empty table because so many people wanted to come in.”
According to Bruno, that success gradually disappeared as the year went on. The restaurant reportedly struggled to maintain its customer base even before Jelly Roll became the center of a political controversy.
“The recent controversy has affected us very much,” Bruno said. “After everything happened, we started seeing fewer and fewer customers. Eventually, there were days when almost nobody was coming through the doors.”
Bruno said the situation ultimately left the business with little choice but to shut down.
“Due to having no customers, we had to close the restaurant,” he added. “We’re now looking at what our next move is and may even have to move to another state.”
The alleged closure comes as Jelly Roll faces increasing criticism over his recent comments about President Donald Trump. During his guest-hosting appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, the singer made several jokes about Trump, prompting backlash from some conservative and country music fans.
Jelly Roll later attempted to explain his political position, saying he considers himself somewhere around the middle and has views that do not completely fit with either political side. However, his explanation has failed to satisfy some critics who believe the singer has moved too far away from the country audience that helped make him a major star.
The controversy has also placed greater attention on businesses connected to Jelly Roll’s name.
For Bruno, the alleged closure is a painful example of how quickly a business can suffer when its associated celebrity becomes controversial.
“We built this place around the idea that people wanted to come here, enjoy themselves and have a good time,” Bruno said. “Nobody expected the business to end up caught in the middle of a political controversy.”
The restaurant’s future remains uncertain, with Bruno suggesting that relocating could be one possibility.
“We’re going to look at everything,” he said. “Maybe another city or even another state will be better for us.”
For Jelly Roll, the reported closure represents another potential consequence of his increasingly outspoken public image.
His critics will undoubtedly see the situation as evidence that his recent political shift is beginning to affect more than just his music career.
