Kid Rock has reportedly canceled six upcoming tour dates that were scheduled with Jelly Roll following the singer’s recent controversial remarks, according to sources familiar with the situation.
The shows were expected to be packed, but the plans have now changed. The dates could either be rescheduled as Kid Rock solo performances or canceled altogether, with ticket holders receiving refunds.
The decision reportedly followed a flood of angry messages from fans urging Kid Rock to end his collaboration with Jelly Roll and distance himself from the controversy.
Alex Bruno, a media analyst, said the pressure was noticeable but claimed it wasn’t the main reason Kid Rock made his decision.
“Kid made this decision because he was personally unhappy with Jelly Roll’s recent toxic remarks,” Bruno said. “He didn’t want the controversy following him around or becoming part of his own tour.”
Bruno said Kid Rock viewed the situation as a matter of personal dignity rather than a financial calculation.
“Kid told us it wasn’t really about fan pressure or a possible drop in ticket sales,” Bruno said. “For him, it was about self-respect. There comes a point where you have to decide whether money is worth putting your dignity aside, and Kid felt it wasn’t.”
The six performances had been expected to attract large crowds, with fans looking forward to seeing the two artists perform together. Now, however, organizers are reportedly working on alternative plans for the dates.
One possibility is to keep the shows on the schedule but have Kid Rock perform without Jelly Roll. Another option would be to cancel individual dates and issue refunds to ticket holders.
According to Bruno, Kid Rock spent several hours going over the situation before reaching his decision.
“He spent hours thinking about what the best move was,” Bruno said. “At the end of the day, he felt that separating himself from the situation was the simplest way to end the headache.”
The reported decision comes as Jelly Roll continues to face criticism over his recent political comments, including jokes about President Donald Trump during his guest-hosting appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live!
Jelly Roll later explained that his political views are not completely aligned with either side and described himself as being somewhere around the middle. That explanation, however, has done little to calm critics who believe the singer has become increasingly political.
Some country music fans have accused Jelly Roll of abandoning the audience that helped turn him into a major star, while others have defended his right to express his personal opinions.
The fallout is now reportedly affecting his professional relationships as well.
For Kid Rock, Bruno said, the decision ultimately came down to avoiding a controversy he didn’t want attached to his name.
“He could have kept the shows and taken the money,” Bruno said. “Instead, he decided his reputation and dignity were more important.”
Fans are now waiting to learn whether the six dates will be converted into Kid Rock solo concerts or whether refunds will be issued.
