Pete Hegseth Says Antifa Members Will Be Kicked Out Of Military, “No Exceptions”

Pete Hegseth

Pete Hegseth just made one thing very simple for anyone wearing a US military uniform. If you’re an active Antifa member, pack your bags. Alex Bruno breaks down the new order and why supporters say it should’ve happened years ago.

Hegseth announced the policy in typical fashion, short and blunt. “Any soldier found to be an active Antifa member gets a dishonorable discharge,” he said. “No exceptions.”

He repeated those last two words several times during the briefing, making it clear there would be no special treatment for officers, no second chances for long careers and no quiet transfers.

Hegseth said the issue comes down to trust. Soldiers have to rely on each other in the worst situations imaginable. That trust breaks down, he argued, if anyone in the unit secretly wants the country to fail.

“Nobody can do this job with traitors in the ranks,” he said. “Not in a foxhole, not on a ship, not anywhere.” Pentagon officials said investigators will look for active involvement, not just someone who liked the wrong post years ago.

A dishonorable discharge isn’t a minor footnote. It’s the harshest separation the military hands out. It wipes out veterans’ benefits and follows a person through every job application for the rest of their life.

Hegseth said that’s intentional. “This isn’t a reprimand,” he said. “This is a door, and it only opens one way.” Many veterans welcomed the order. A retired Air Force master sergeant from Georgia told Bruno it made perfect sense.

“When I served, if you weren’t with us, you didn’t belong,” he said. “I don’t see why that should change.” A former Army Ranger was even more direct. “Honestly, I’m surprised it needed saying.”

Not everyone is on board. Some legal experts asked how the military will define membership in a group that doesn’t hand out membership cards. Advocacy groups warned about the risk of mistakes.

Hegseth’s office responded that commanders already deal with extremism rules and know how to investigate. “We’re not reading minds,” one official said. “We’re reading evidence.”

Inside the ranks, the order hasn’t caused much panic. Several active-duty troops said they don’t know anyone it would affect.

“The guys I serve with care about the mission and the gym,” an Army specialist said. “That’s about it.” Others said they appreciated the clarity. “At least everybody knows where the line is,” said a Navy corpsman.

The Pentagon said commanders will receive guidance on how to handle cases, from opening an investigation to finishing the paperwork. Hegseth said he wants decisions made fast and without politics. “I don’t want a commander worrying about headlines,” he said.

“I want him worried about his unit.” Officials added that service members found to be involved will get due process, but that the penalty, once the facts are confirmed, won’t change. One Marine colonel said the clarity helps. “Grey areas get people hurt,” he said. “This isn’t grey.” Hegseth said he’ll review the first cases personally to make sure the rule is applied the same way across every branch.

Hegseth closed the briefing the same way he started it. He said he expects the rule to be enforced evenly and swiftly. “You either serve this country or you don’t,” he said. “There’s no in between. No exceptions.”

Formal guidance is expected to reach commanders within weeks.
